HISTORY OF ESTABLISHMENT KOPENAS
Koperasi Perkhidmatan Pelajaran Nasional Berhad or KOPENAS was established on 11 February 1984 in a meeting held at Victoria High School, Kuala Lumpur. The meeting which was attended by 256 people from among educators was officiated by YBhg. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Haji Abdul Rahman Arshad (Deputy Director General of Education 1) at the Malaysian Ministry of Education.
The originator of the idea to establish this co-operative was the idea of YBhg. Tan Sri Dr. Sulaiman bin Daud, Minister of Education Malaysia at the time and YBhg. Tan Sri Dato' Seri Haji Abdul Rahman bin Arshad has been appointed as the First Chairman to lead this co-operative. The first General Meeting was held at the Institut Perguruan Pendidikan Negara, Genting Highland, Pahang on 14 September 1985.
The burning torch held by the four hands found on the KOPENAS logo means the burning spirit and success of the KOPENAS
